Created and edited since 1982 by the Centre National de la Photographie (CNP) in France, the Photo Poche collection became -though the publication of its more than 150 volumes - one of the most notorious editorial projects in the world. This article puts its creation in perspective to a large context of cultural policies dedicated to theartistic acknowledgement of photography, occurred in France during the socialist government of François Mitterrand, in the 80s.
