Plot Twist: Literary Reading and Analysis in Secondary Education through the Podcast Genre

Abstract

The inclusion of literary texts in schools has faced multiple challenges over time, amid different positions: apolitical ones, which proclaim the death of Literature teaching; conformist ones, which consider it useless; and reformist ones, which point to the need for methodological reform in its implementation. Within this  perspective, debates around text selection and the purpose of reading stand out as key bottlenecks in shaping readers and promoting authors and works within formal education. This article joins that debate through the analysis of a literature teaching project implemented in integrated high school classes at the Federal Institute of Bahia – Santa Inês Campus. The analysis focuses on the axes of text selection and the purpose of literary reading, considering the proposal of  poetic, dramatic, and narrative works, as well as decentralizing the through students creation of original literary analysis podcasts.
