Abstract

Objective: to build a model to support the management of a library, of a Higher Education Institution, from the perspective of sustainability, based on the Constructivist Decision Support Multicriteria Methodology - MCDA-C.
Methodology: characterized by being a case study, exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative-quantitative approach, presenting a constructivist view in the construction of the model.
Results: (i) identification by the decision maker of six areas of concern: Environmental impacts, Social impacts, Economic impacts, Library image, Commitment to teaching and learning, and Innovation, creativity, smart solutions; (ii) construction of the multicriteria decision support model composed of a set of cardinal scales that show and measure the current situation of the performance profile, locally and globally, of library management from the perspective of sustainability; (iii) graphic and numerical demonstration of the properties of the context at an excellent, competitive and compromising level of performance; (iv) disclosure of the process to generate improvement actions in activities with critical performance that are capable of enhancing improvements in the library's results.
Conclusions: the constructivist process used allowed decision-makers to expand their understanding of the essential properties to support management with a sustainable perspective, based on monitoring the performance of the current situation and seeking to better reach their goals and values for the context.
