Abstract

The article examines intersectionality as a theoretical and methodological tool in the experiences recounted by Aura Cumes, Lélia Gonzalez, Grada Kilomba, Creuza Krahô, and Audre Lorde. The five authors brought into dialogue have lived experiences shaped by plural identities and practices that address race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and territory. To approach intersectionality, we first draw on Kimberlé Crenshaw and Patricia Hill Collins, establishing a dialogue between their theories and identifying them in the writings of these women. Subsequently, we present the accounts of Aura Cumes, Lélia Gonzalez, Grada Kilomba, Creuza Krahô, and Audre Lorde. Finally, we highlight how this analytical category is theoretically and methodologically embedded in the experiences and works of these authors.
