The present article is devoted, in a first part, to the study of the process of creation of the poem "Reconhecimento de Nêmesis", written in 1926 and published fifteen years later in the book Poesias. Excerpts from the active and passive correspondence participate in the archive of the creation of the poem and contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the verses. In the second part, we present a comparative study of "Reconhecimento de Nêmesis" with Padre Jesuíno do Monte Carmelo, the approximation of works is possible especially because the writer, twenty years later in the romance of the baroque painter, replicates the main image of the poem, "Brown hand" that serves as a metaphor for aspects of the Brazilian mestizo psychology. Also contributing to this work are the study of Mário de Andrade's manuscripts, safeguarded in his collection at IEB-USP.
