Professional training in social work and pandemic: impacts on teaching and supervised internship

Abstract

This article deals with professional training in Social Work in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to analyze trends in productions on professional training through the works presented in the Social Service: Fundamentals, Training and Professional Work axis, at the XVII ENPESS. The focus of these analyses is the teaching- learning process and the supervised internship in Social Work. To this end, it seeks to contextualize professional training projects currently in dispute in the field of Social Work. It then addresses central points of the Curricular Guidelines, prepared by the Brazilian Association of Teaching and Research in Social Work (ABEPSS) in 1996 and presents some challenges for their defense and implementation. Subsequently, it brings brief reflections on the pandemic and its impacts on higher education. And, finally, it presents some research analyses, highlighting the teaching processes and the internship in the context of the pandemic. We also made considerations that highlight the relevance of ABEPSS's responsible and rigorous positioning in defending the professional training project based on the 1996 Curricular Guidelines, understanding that such an entity's stance created barriers so that the flexibilization processes that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic did not become hegemonic in Social Work.
