Objective: This scientific article aims to present and reflect upon the concepts, evolution, types, and possibilities of marketing—ranging from traditional to digital—within the public sector and libraries.
Method: A literature review with a qualitative approach was employed.
Results: The study contributes to a critical reflection on traditional and digital marketing concepts. These concepts are essential for understanding how the evolution and development of marketing have impacted activities in this field, including marketing for non-profit organizations. Key theoretical and methodological contributions arise from the dynamic, ongoing transformations marketing undergoes due to the advancement of new digital technologies, alongside the disruptive nature of the internet and digital marketing—which also affects non-profit institutions. This highlights the conceptual and theoretical importance of the study, a topic that has received limited attention to date.
Conclusion: The significance of this study lies in its ability to update traditional marketing methods with more effective approaches adapted to the digital ecosystem, focusing on promoting public services to their users.
