Abstract

Emerging technologies outline new social challenges to human life, which design has become a robust tool in the transdisciplinary effort to reduce adverse effects on society. In this case, designers must ensure a harmonious existence between individuals and the surrounding environment, which makes the future a hot topic in the field. In this way, this evaluation aims to verify which signs guarantee the relevance of futuristic design practices for the praxis of this field. To this end, a critical literature review strategy was used, with exploratory, basic and qualitative characteristics. The results show that there are minimal differences between the approaches, with the mode of critique being the differential, as well as conceptual and terminological overlaps. It is concluded that these methods have the potential to be considered influential today, as they investigate the impacts of social and technological vectors, instigate provocative questioning and analyze technological protagonism.
